Wow...  I feel like a woman possessed his week, I was shown new technique this week and just had to do it.  I have spent hours researching how and why it works and trying to find the product to do it. Finally today I think I have done it,  thanks to Resene... here in New Plymouth, they were amazing!  So friendly, and ever so helpful, absolutely going out of their way to help my find the product I was looking for...( I only have the name of two components that were in it)  The below are all pages from a National Geographic magazing, I have photographed these probably a little early in the process.... but I think they are looking amazing.  Their uses endless, Altered Book, Dominoes, Journalling, Mixed Media Backgrounds
Aside from that I have found my joy for plaster again and I think I will do a tutorial next week using it on canvas!
My resin works shops are going great.... Lots of happy creators  now working on their own creations for Christmas presents.  I am really looking forward to seeing their results.
I have also done a fair bit of working on my transfer techniques and are looking forward to showing all you arty mixed media people,  the below tiles are mdf with builders filler and use and image transfer technique over top. These are not finish.... I am just debating my next move.....  LOL it could be a while with all that I have going on...  I another on my wall that need completing and workshops to teach... not let alone my paid employment...  Everything is a work in progress, much like life itself! :)
Altered Image Studios took on another catering job this week,  I did a book re-launch at Real Tart Gallery here in New Plymouth.  It was fabulous... so if you are in New Plymouth and need a someone to look after your event give me a bell.

This weeks freebie print.  Fresh of my design press, I have just completed this to with in the last hour and now I  am heading in to the studio to have a play......  .

This time I thought I might have a little project for you to do!  Download image here  and Project How To here

  1. Print Kitchen image, please be sure to use a printer where you know the inks will not run once wet!  Laser copy is best!
  2. Adhere to block - I use good old pva or a decoupage paste medium
  3. Stain with preferred medium.  I have used coffee and walnut ink in this instance.  You could us distressing inks, paint washes.
  4. Around the edge I have sponged with a burnt umber paint.
  5. Again around the edge I have place a gold line, this was done with a krylon gold leaf pen you could also use the sponge technique with a metallic gold paint
  6. This next step is optional, I have added an antique crackle, rubbing a little gold into the crack in areas.
  7. varnish spray will finish this off nicely
