Altered Image Studios

So....  here I go again about white vinegar!  So many uses.... they keep growing by the day.  (well almost)   I found a link on the weekend referring making copper coins clean and all sparkly again.  Now this I knew, I can remember doing it when I was a child.  But what I did not know was, that this same recipe will tarnish and copper plate metal, what kinds of metal I am not sure... still experimenting.  I brought some charm on special at  spotlight... bright shiny silver.... (not my favourite, I like old)  any-ways... I have tried tarnishing and copper plating these and thus far it seems to be working.  I am reasonably impressed.

I seem to be spend all my time in the studio which I commonly refered to as my art cave these days....( so yes this is a good thing)... Right where was I going with this ..before the phone rang.  That 's right I have been working on my casting plaster products again... and are finally getting them to a place where I am happy,  using a lime wash and transfer techniques.  I am loving this effect,  I can not wait to try more of my designs.

I have had this image in my mid near on two years and this is the 2nd time I have tried playing...I feel I am still not there yet!  But  I will keep on keeping on, until I get to a place where I am happy with.

Great workshop last night, mixing pouring moulding casting plaster and image transfer.  Ooops forgot to take photos. I was requested for previous end product images. So here is a few I have done previous.  Most of these finishes are washes or dry brushing paint on.   One of the finishes I really enjoyed and loved the effect was the Small and Large Cross ...  Verdigris  effect.  This was done by spraying over a metallic copper paint, a mix of Salt and Vinegar.  Magic the ageing should appear, but this will depend you paint pigments, to stop this process spray with water.

It is Easter and I am retreating to my art cave (studio), would like it if I could be in here all winter but hey... hmmm maybe that is probably not the best idea in the world.  The word home was ordered through  #trademe....  this is now cut out and good to paint and finish off.. I just now need to design a vintage print for it!

Wow...  I feel like a woman possessed his week, I was shown new technique this week and just had to do it.  I have spent hours researching how and why it works and trying to find the product to do it. Finally today I think I have done it,  thanks to Resene... here in New Plymouth, they were amazing!  So friendly, and ever so helpful, absolutely going out of their way to help my find the product I was looking for...( I only have the name of two components that were in it)  The below are all pages from a National Geographic magazing, I have photographed these probably a little early in the process.... but I think they are looking amazing.  Their uses endless, Altered Book, Dominoes, Journalling, Mixed Media Backgrounds
Aside from that I have found my joy for plaster again and I think I will do a tutorial next week using it on canvas!
My resin works shops are going great.... Lots of happy creators  now working on their own creations for Christmas presents.  I am really looking forward to seeing their results.
I have also done a fair bit of working on my transfer techniques and are looking forward to showing all you arty mixed media people,  the below tiles are mdf with builders filler and use and image transfer technique over top. These are not finish.... I am just debating my next move.....  LOL it could be a while with all that I have going on...  I another on my wall that need completing and workshops to teach... not let alone my paid employment...  Everything is a work in progress, much like life itself! :)
Altered Image Studios took on another catering job this week,  I did a book re-launch at Real Tart Gallery here in New Plymouth.  It was fabulous... so if you are in New Plymouth and need a someone to look after your event give me a bell.
